This autumn, a small asteroid named 2024 PT5 will be temporarily captured by Earth’s gravity, becoming a “mini-moon” from September 29 to November 25. Although it won’t be visible to the naked eye, professional telescopes will capture images. Discovered on August 7 by NASA’s ATLAS, the 33-foot-wide asteroid originates from the Arjuna asteroid belt. It won’t complete a full orbit around Earth but will have its path slightly altered before moving on.
