Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to make landfall on the Texas coast as a hurricane early Monday, bringing life-threatening storm surge up to 6 feet and damaging winds, according to the National Hurricane Center. Previously a Category 4 hurricane, Beryl weakened to a tropical storm after hitting Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula but is forecast to strengthen back into a hurricane by Sunday night. Flash flooding and dangerous rip currents are also anticipated along the Texas coast and Gulf Coast through Monday. Tropical storm-strength winds may reach Texas as early as Sunday night.
