Two astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, stranded at the International Space Station since June, received a new ride home with the arrival of a SpaceX capsule. SpaceX launched a rescue mission with a crew of two and two empty seats for Wilmore and Williams, who will return next year. NASA switched them from Boeing’s Starliner due to safety concerns. The Dragon capsule, carrying NASA’s Nick Hague and Russia’s Alexander Gorbunov, will stay at the station until February, extending Wilmore and Williams’ mission to over eight months. NASA prefers to rotate crews every six months, with SpaceX providing transport since 2020.
