United Launch Alliance (ULA) is set for its final planned test flight of the Vulcan rocket, named Cert-2, on Friday morning. This mission is crucial for ULA to start launching U.S. national security payloads. Liftoff is scheduled from Cape Canaveral at 6 a.m. EDT, with an 80% chance of favorable weather. Vulcan will replace ULA’s retired Delta 4 and Atlas 5 rockets. The rocket has a significant backlog, including 25 National Security Space Launch missions and 38 Amazon Kuiper missions. The Cert-2 launch will use two Northrop Grumman solid rocket boosters.
