Veteran Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko returned to Earth after a record-breaking 374-day stay on the ISS, bringing his total non-consecutive days in orbit to 1,111, the longest in history. He returned with cosmonaut Nikolai Chub and NASA astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson. Kononenko first broke the cumulative days in space record in February, surpassing Gennady Padalka’s 878 days. Over five missions since 2008, Kononenko completed 17,800 Earth orbits and over 44 hours in spacewalks. He expressed gratitude to his crewmates, calling the ISS his “second home.”
